Johann Heinrich von Thünen Institute

The Johann Heinrich von Thünen Institute, Federal Research Institute for Rural Areas, Forests and Fisheries is a departmental research institution in the portfolio of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

The Thünen Institute develops scientific bases as decision-making aids for the agricultural, forestry, fisheries and consumer protection policies of the Federal Government. Within the scope of these tasks, the Institute is scientifically independent. The Thünen Institute is divided into 15 specialized institutes and the joint service facilities. Two of the institutes are involved in the project.
